Thankyou for reading. As i say in the article, the song, I believe, talks about 'seizing the day', about freedom and opportunity, and living in the moment. There is a dreaminess and intoxication that is part of many of the characters' arcs in the serites. This is contrasted with the suspicion and uncertainty of the context (the period before the Nazis came into power). Each line of the song echoes this contrast, between stagnation and immortality, reality and dream, union and freedom, and of course the present moment and the eternal -
"The clock on your hand is full of sand..
... put your hand in mind, let us be eternal"
Simply put, 'live in the moment, find love and beauty, forget hardship, dream and be immortal...'
(If I'm not mistaken the song was written, composed and framed specifically for the series. Perhaps seeing it within the context of that historical and cultural moment will give some more clarity :) )
I just read and enjoyed this very nice article from you. Very interesting!
Would you also share your interpretation from this song? I am still struggling with finding the meanings!
Thank you!
