So…. this evening a long pending ‘offline’ meet happened. I finally met the curator of The Alipore Post newsletter and journal. This golden name is the stuff of contemporary web poetry-art legend. On new moon nights, when poetry falls from the leaves as dew, and the rain is a person quietly listening under the eaves, you’ll see a squirrel scurrying through the undergrowth, with a little wordcatcher in tow, seeking out the whispers of poets that echo through the forest. To say that Rohini is an inspiration for young poets, artists and curators of beautiful things on the internet would be an understatement. I have learnt and loved, and grown, with the gems that the alipore post scatters for us to pick up and savour.
So tomorrow we will be reading poems about the city in the park - Cubbon Park to be precise. All this is happening (as it should) at a breathless place. It is completely unplanned, but already I’m super excited about it. If you’re in bangalore, just come off, We’d love to meet and talk poems and cities! Here’s the official invitation.
Poetry Sunday at Cubbon Park with The Alipore Post and Poetly
