"I could be bounded in a nutshell, and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams." - Hamlet
To feel grains of sand underfoot, to walk in a beach with fingers intertwined and the song of the sea. Sometimes an eternity is frozen in a single image. Kemal Ozer’s photograph outlines the paradox of transience, the eternal conundrum of futility, uncertainty and the meaning of our own mortality. But he tips it with lightness. With the freedom of the beach, the waves and the wind as his backdrop, he revels in the clutches of the deep throb of life that surfaces in moments of connection. This poem today lifted my spirits, made me want to taste the expanse of the sea, and made me realise how even a single free moment out in the carnival of nature is precious. It is unbelievable, this impulse to create, even with the knowledge that it will be temporary; to put something beautiful into this world that was not there before. to find new words.
